Hey guys,
I'm looking to go travelling next year and am trying to find a good company to go with - does anyone have any opinions on certain travel companies? Iv thought about doing the uganda project with i-to-i, does anyone have any experience with this company at all? Cheers xx |

Hi, I went on a teaching placement to Ghana with them in '02 and wasn't very happy with them.
My orientation of Accra was simply that we got my visa sorted and then I was dropped off at the big arts centre and told maybe I could find the book I needed there and in which direction to get a taxi home. I did haave a nice morning but when I returned to the house the other volunteers (some off which had been there for two months) said to never go alone to that place as it is very well known for pick-pocketing and muggings! We didn't have good support in the country and when we e-mailed questions to the company they often took a while to reply. My placement also was poorly arranged but I am aware that they no longer work with that school and the Ghanian layed-back attitude not have helped speed up changes neccessary for more success with all their volunteers. I know that some of the people that visited the country then really did feel their assistance was worthwhile, and more recently, as I met nice folk in Kenya earlier this year, they really liked everything that they were experiancing on the placement they chose. I hope that with time the company have ironed out any of the issues that arose earlier and have all happy volunteers- and good-luck with whatever project you choose. Regards, Lis p.s. I went to Kenya through buffalotrails.com (sorry may not be correct spelling) and I setting off for Hawaii, till mid Feb, to do gardening for my keep on Tuesday!!! |

Hey there,
I actually went to the Teach INN Uganda project in October. I work for i-to-i in the North American office. I had never been to Africa before and had an amazing time. If you want to see my pictures, I've added the links below! I can also get you in contact with someone else (a non i-to-i employee! As for the project in Ghana, it did have problems http://www.facebook.com/album.php?ai...6&id=632490822 http://www.facebook.com/album.php?ai...b&id=632490822 http://www.facebook.com/album.php?ai...5&id=632490822 Anyway, if you have any questions or want to speak to someone, just give me a call!
