Has anyone taken the rail journey from Cuzco to Puno?

Any idea if the backpacker carriages are comfortable?

I have travelled to Puno from Cuzco, but by coach, not by train. But having travelled to Machu Picchu by Perurail, I can say that they should be comfortable.
