Heya,

I'm hoping to go travelling after Christmas, beginning of 2009 in my gap year before uni, however all my friends are going straight to uni so i have no-one to travel with!! Ideally I'd like to go all round the world, i have been to quite a few countries already and would love to go back to some of them e.g Cambodia, India, America etc but would also like to visit other new interesting countries. My thoughts at the moment are to go and volunteer somewhere and then travel after that. Probably start in India then go 2 SE Asia, Aus, NZ, and around 2 america. Is anyone looking at going travelling then or has anyone got any tips or ideas or just want to chat about travelling?? Thanks,

Hey Emily,

Yeah i'm also going travelling in my gap year in January. I'm thinking of going with this company i've found called Pepper which seem pretty cool - you should have a look at http://www.experiencepepper.co.uk as you can do some volunteering as well as loads of other things like watersports and safaris in South Africa. Let me know if you also think of going with them,

I'm also looking for a travel partner. I am also starting in India to do some volunteer work through oxfam for a couple of months, starting in november, then heading across middle east to Egypt, then back home to NZ

Hey Emily,

I am in exactly the same situation as you! My friends are going straight to uni so there is none really to travel with, and I am looking to travel in Jan 2009 after working for 6months before I go on to Uni later that year . I have been to a few places already and at the moment my plans seem to be that I will be travelling around South Africa with a company doing various adventure activities and voluntary work for 3months from January, then going to Australia, New Zealand (where I will visit some family for a bit) and on to America. hope that helps! Oh and if anyone has any suggestions or advice... it would be greatly appreciated! Thanks Ellie

We're leaving in Jan 09 - Japan - Hong Kong - overland through SE asia - Cairns overland through oz - Syndey - Fiji. So we'll probably be kicking about in some of the places you will at around the same time.

Hi guys, i just posted a thread saying i'm looking for someone to travel in India, i arrive jan 13th in Mumbai, anyone else thinking of going there first? wanted to go onto goa after..
