If you're travelling in Thailand then my advice is to buy a sim card while your there. There's plenty to choose from and they can be bought from plenty of places. All 7/11's stock them, and there's a 7/11 on practically every street corner!! I was on ONE-2-CALL for the 8 months i was there. The sim card cost me about 150 baht, calls and texts were really cheap. I used to phone back to the UK on it plenty of times
If you travel outside of thailand, for example, Cambodia or laos then the thai sim won't work. But if your desperate to always have your mobile working then just buy a pay as you go sim in the country your in, you'll find that they cost you next to nothing. When I was in Thailand a new phone company was even giving away free sim cards! So, if you have a phone that is unlocked, then you wont have a problem... |

Thanks for the useful tips! Up to now, I've been buying cheap phones wherever I go for a quick means of communication with whoever I'm traveling with.
