I would not advice you go there on your own, India is a country where they still treat females as second class citizens and some Indian males do crazy about western girls, because of the skin and eyes colors that they have. Also, the law is always on the men’s side.

Hey, I'm sort of in the same position as you. I'm planning to go to India next year, and haven't yet found anyone who's interested enough to go, so I may end up going on my own. Ideally I'd like to go with someone else, just for the company as well as safety, but I'm certain that there'll be plenty of people to meet along the way, so it's not a huge issue....
I'm still in the early stages of planning, so can't really give much advice about where to go.... |

I have just split up with my boyfriend and we have flights to india leaving on boxing day. I am determined to go still. I'll be there for 4 weeks. I am wondering the same questions as the original poster but would also like a companion to share my experiences with as well as safety etc. Anyone out there?
